Jail Mental Health & Diversion Services

Screening, assessment, and crisis intervention services are provided 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week to the inmates at the Kent County Jail.  A variety of support services are offered to inmates returning to the community to support them in the re-entry process. Identifies persons with mental health issues in jail who do not receive mental health services who are at a higher risk for returning to jail.  Advocates with the courts for persons with misdemeanors or non-violent felonies due to mental health issues to be released out of jail sooner to receive mental health treatment in the community.

Objective:

Identify and divert persons with mental health issues from jail to receive community services.

Eligibility:

Persons with mental issues who are not receiving help in the community who have committed a misdemeanor or non-violent felony.

Funding:

Funding is provided by Network 180 and Kent County.
